Fair Housing for All: EvictionFreeMKE

April is National Fair Housing Month, a time to commemorate the passing of the Fair Housing Act in 1968 and to recommit ourselves to the ongoing work of ensuring equal housing opportunities for all.

At EvictionFreeMKE, we believe that safe, stable housing is a fundamental human right, and we are dedicated to promoting housing justice and protecting the rights of renters in Milwaukee.

The Fair Housing Act was a critical piece of legislation that prohibited discrimination in housing based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability. It was a significant step forward in the fight for housing justice, but we know that there is still much work to be done to ensure that all people have access to safe, affordable housing.

One of the ways that we are working towards this goal is by providing free legal aid to tenants facing eviction. We know that many tenants face discrimination and other unfair practices when it comes to housing, and we are committed to defending their rights and fighting for housing justice. We help families navigate the complex legal system and work to ensure that they are treated fairly and justly.

We also offer legal counseling and rental assistance to help families stay in their homes and avoid eviction. We know that many families are struggling to make ends meet, and we are here to provide the support and resources they need to maintain stable housing and avoid the negative health effects of eviction.

At EvictionFreeMKE, we believe that promoting fair housing practices is not only the right thing to do, but it is also critical for building healthy communities. When people have access to safe, affordable housing, they are more likely to be healthy, happy, and successful. Stable housing is the foundation of strong communities, and we are committed to promoting fair housing practices to help build a better future for all.

During National Fair Housing Month, we urge everyone to take action to promote fair housing practices in their communities. This can include educating yourself and others about fair housing laws, advocating for fair housing policies, and supporting initiatives like ours that are working to promote housing justice and protect the rights of renters.

Housing is a human right. Let’s fight for it.

If you, or someone you know, are facing an eviction, we urge you to connect with us through our EVI chat tool, which can connect you with legal aid and other resources to help you stay in your home.
